It is important that we have the right perception of Christ and His Kingdom as this will ultimately affect every aspect of our lives – our spiritual identity, how we approach Him, how we relate with Him and how we lead in our service for Him.
(Further study of the scriptures will reveal to you that the Kingdom of God is NOT a place where the believers are going to inherit ONLY when they die, or a place that is ONLY to come when Jesus return to earth. The Kingdom of God is the rule, reign and dominion of Christ which is a present reality that is NOW existing in the hearts of every true believers in Jesus Christ through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit [and it is progressively increasing until the fullness of time when all things regarding the eternal purposes of God are accomplished in the earth and culminate in Christ’s return).
There are four basic concepts we must understand which governs the principle of a kingdom:
1. The King
2. The Domain
3. The Citizens
4. The Law
The King: Every kingdom is governed by a king, and everything regarding the kingdom revolves around the king. Without the king, there is NO kingdom.
Power and authority does not belong to the people, but to the king. A kingdom does not operate a democratic system of government, but a theocratic rule. God’s kingdom is a THEOCRATIC government with an ABSOLUTE RULE; and His rule is that of love, justice, truth, peace, equity and righteousness.
Jesus Christ is the King of the Kingdom of God and everything regarding God’s purpose and will is centered around Him. He reigns over ALL things.
Without Jesus Christ [the King] there is NO Kingdom. It is therefore important as believers to know and understand that where Jesus Christ [the King] is, that is where His Kingdom is.
Isaiah 9:6-7, Hebrews 1:8, 1 Corinthians 15:25-28, Psalm 89:14, Psalm 14:17.
The Domain: A domain is the territory owned or controlled by a ruler or government. Every kingdom has a specified sphere of dominion. It is important therefore to note that the domain of the kingdom of God that Christ [The King] rules over is inclusive of the heavens, the earth and beneath the earth. Our mind must not be limited to think only of heaven when we hear the word, the kingdom of God. We must broaden our understanding to know that God’s will and purpose is inclusive of the heavens and the earth. Therefore, we are admonished to pray in this manner, “Thy Kingdom Come and Thy Will Be Done on Earth as It Is in Heaven” – Matthew 6:10.
Psalms 24:1, Isaiah 66:1.
The Citizens: Every kingdom has subjects whom the king rule over. They are the people or citizens of the kingdom. Those who believe in Christ Jesus have been translated by God into the kingdom of His Dear Son [Jesus Christ]. They are the citizens of the kingdom of God.
Remember, without Jesus Christ [the King] there is NO Kingdom, and where Jesus Christ [the King] is, that is where His Kingdom is.
Is Jesus Christ [the King] living in you? Then the Kingdom of God is within you (quote Luke 17:22). This is what makes you a citizen of the Kingdom of God as you believe this truth in Christ Jesus and receive Him as He is. Let the King rule in your heart as His throne!
The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is the body of community of people that forms the citizens of the Kingdom of God.
Colossians 1:3, Philippians 3:30, Ephesians 2:19, 1 Peter 2:9-10.
The Law: The law is a system of rules that is recognized as a legal constitution which regulates the actions of its citizens, and it is enforced by its government.
The eternal word of God is the very essence of truth and the righteous law which regulates God’s kingdom. [It is the governing principles by which Christ rules His kingdom]. The Word of God must become the ONLY measuring standard by which our lives are governed as we subject ourselves as citizens of God’s kingdom. Obedience is important and necessary as we observe all that is written therein in His word – The Law of life and the legal constitution of God’s kingdom.
Psalms 119:89, Psalm 119:160, Psalm 147:19.
